Skull and Glossbones

I just had to share.  I've meaning to share this since last week.  I actually got a pedicure last week.  I literally hadn't had one for more than a year.  That's sad. Don't get me wrong, I did my own feet and always have.  But it was much needed this pedicure.  I tried hard not to kick the girl in the face because yes, I'm so ticklish.

Anyway, the color I got, I was debating over. I wasn't sure it would look good on my skin because I get the red around the nails after a while, and while not so much on my feet, but I was nervous.  Anyway, I ended up going for the color my eyes were set on, OPI's Skull and Glossbones.

I can't even describe this color appropriately, but it's from the Pirates of the Caribbean color theme they had.  It's like a light gray.

But in most of the pics you see when you google image it, or when you see the bottle alone, it doesn't show the color as close to what it really is.  This was the best google image picture I found to describe what the color looks like to/on me:

And even still, a little bit lighter than what this picture portrays.  Anyhow, look at all the variations.  This color will work in ANY season.  I really love it.

No Outfit Yet

I don't have most likely what you came here looking for....a new outfit post. Yesterday's outfit was this dress:

but with different shoes. A little too boring to go through the whole process of taking pictures, editing, posting bla bla.

But I will bring you a funny video of my adorable son "dancing" his butt off:

This morning, when I played him Foster the People's Pumped Up Kicks, he bobbed his head. I'm glad he knows when it's appropriate to booty pop versus head bang. (lol)

Mama taught him well.

Jersday

I hate jersey shore

I hate Sammy shes so stupid i cant take it.

I started this blog last night after the show, and after they showed previews for the show that will air this Sunday before the VMA's.  Truth is, I don't hate the show, but it is my guilty pleasure.  I can't stand Sammy and how stupid she is though.

In other news, I bought these pants from Mustard Seed the day after the earthquake.  They were only $8 and from gap.  I especially LOVE the color, but you can't really see the richness of the color in these photos. They are this beautiful, dark green color.  I can't wait to wear them with boots too.  Crazy part though, they are size 6 in gap, which means I really might be a size 8 at this point.  A little scary.  I need to cool it on the magnum bars.

We tried different lighting, but the pants look even darker in the photos below.  I really need to learn to utilize all that I can do with an slr camera.

I just like that I actually look kinda skinny in these last couple of photos.

blue shirt- old f21, ($13)
gap pants- thrifted, ($8)
steve madden heels- macys, ($30)
Anyhow.  Are you guys on the east coast prepared for the hurricane?  They evacuated the beach (Ocean City, MD) in my state.  Crazy!  Do I think the world is coming to an end?  Kinda....Yeah, I might be one of "those."  Anyway, stay safe and have a great weekend homies!

Appreciate what you got and try to enjoy the rainy days with some cuddling and reading.

It's bout to Rain Cats and Dogs

Sorry I've been MIA. We had an earthquake, now we're getting a hurricane. Life is pretty cool. Aside from all that, I'm EXTREMELY BUSY at work and don't even have time do anything when I go home, so I haven't had a chance to take pictures.

I'm so overwhelmed. My house is a mess. It looks like an earthquake AND hurricane ran through it. The price you pay to have kids.....and work long hours.... Anyways ya'll, stay tuned. I'll try to post a post tonight or tomorrow, I worked an extra hour everyday so I can have a half day tomorrow.

Stay safe ya'll!

Michelle Trachtenberg is my Hero:

Michael showed me this video and said that this was me.

He was right, I do the exact same thing when I rap to songs. I love her 50 times more now!!

Penny for Your Thought

What up peeps?  How was your Monday?  Mine was alright, had a long trip to Target last night.  Other than that, here is yesterday's outfit:

Also, Michael surprised me with DOMO!!!!

Me being excited (even though I look like a heffer, for real):

banana button up: thrifted, ($4)
old navy tee: thrifted, ($3)
black maxi skirt: currently in old navy for $30, but I bought thrifted ($4)
sandals: jc penny, gift from my mama

I was super excited when I saw this skirt at goodwill, because I had been wanting a black maxi skirt, AND this skirt is currently $30 from from Old Navy!  I wonder why someone gave it away already, but you know what they say, one mans trash is another mans treasure.  Holla!

Picture Post

How was your weekend, folks?  Mine went by too fast, that's for sure.

Here are some pictures I have to share from the past week:

My neighbors dog, Kale.  She's beautiful! I have always wanted a pit.  I just love her:

Devin and Dad on their way to the fair:

Devin petting a bunny for the first time, at the fair:

DOMO PRIZE at the fair!  I really wanted one :(

My little man tearing up some asparagus.  Good for him!

I got surprised with a beautiful bouquet of flowers Friday evening.  Seriously, the prettiest flowers I've EVER gotten! I love them:

Pretty, right?  I hope you have a happy Monday and a great week!

do the jane fonda

aka be a hero.  That woman looks AMAZING!  She's freakin 70 something and looks like 50!  She's aged extremely well.  That has nothing to do with my post today, but.....just sayin.

I went to the county fair last night.  I only got a few pics, but nothing spectacular.  I may or may not share them.  Anyway, here is Mondays' outfit.  I know, I'm behind!

jkj

shirt- f21, old ($13)
pants- some fancy brand, thrifted (fill a bag for $10 sale, so essentially $1)
shoes- target, ($13)

I loooove these pants!  They are a light blue herringbone fabric, high waisted, and wide legged!  And the best part about them being high wasted is that they actually didn't give me granny butt!  I love them!!  I was overall very pleased with my outfit.

How has your week been?  Cam you believe it's almost fall already? This summer flew by!

Lightning!

Last night, we had a major storm, filled with back to back lightening for about an hour, it was wonderful! I LOVE thunderstorms (although if I'm home alone and it's night time, I get scared).  I looove watching thunderstorms and they often go by way too fast!

Anyway, I have alwaaayyysss wanted to get an awesome picture of lightning.  Last night, we went to dinner and on our way home, since I wasn't driving and the lightning was back to back, I snapped a million pictures, and was super excited to see the outcomes.  There were plenty of boring pictures, and just plain black pictures, but I got a couple GREAT pictures too!  Granted, they aren't the best quality, and there are a million better ones out there, but remember, these were taken with my iphone.  I love them:

Pretty cool, huh?  It was a super crazy storm, and I loved every second of it.  I wanted to post these last night, but I had a killer migraine.  I can't wait to take some even better ones with my camera and tripod :)

Have a happy Monday and a great week!

Rainy Day

It's a semi-rainy Saturday.  I already enjoyed a thunderstorm, which you may or may not know, makes for a happy Mina.

Here are (I think) Thursdays outfit pics:

 hat- nordstroms, $13
vintage yellow shirt- thrifted, ($4)
j crew skirt- sale ($23)
steve madden shoes- macys sale ($30)
vintage animal necklace- thrifted ($8)

And one of my lil man in his new sneakers, I think "sporty" on little baby's and toddlers is so cute!

I might be back later today or tomorrow to show you Friday's outfit.  I really loved it! It was simple and comfortable, but the color combo is what made it.  I did the whole,  "like colors" idea I learned from the J. Crew Catalogs (read about this concept here ).

Oh, and I scored major big yesterday on a, 'fill a bag of clothes for $10' thrift store sale.  It's supposed to be at the end of the month, so I didn't expect them to have it yesterday.  I made sure to pick pieces I only loved (I'm really working on that).  When I tried everything on at home last night, everything fit!  And all but two things are vintage and super cute!  Major, major score!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

At the Park

So, I totally forgot to post this earlier today (I had it half ready to post), but I completely forgot.  Yesterday when I got off work, Michael and Devin were waiting for me at home so we could take a trip to the park.  It was pretty nice, weather wise yesterday, and today was even better.

If you haven't noticed, I have gained quite a bit of weight.  I've always had a fast metabolism, and have always hated being too skinny.  But a month or two ago, I wasn't too skinny, I was probably a perfect weight, plus a little pooch.  All of a sudden ( and 23,532 cupcakes later), I gained a whopping 12 pounds.  My pooch is getting harder and harder to hide, so it was time to start working out.  I have been doing Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred.  Today, will be day 3.  That jaunt is hard.  I read great reviews about it after Dev was born, but probably only did it a couple times.  The stress of being a new parent + house buying + job seeking, oh, and plus breastfeeding, helped me lose the weight.

So now I leave you with yesterday's pictures, and yes, I realize I don't look big in them.  But trust me, I didn't post Monday's outfit because I look like an overweight midget in them.  I put one picture of Monday's outfit, where you may peep the gut :/

I actually did something different with my hair:

here's one side:

And the other:
tank: thrifted at buffalo exchange in SanFran ($8?)
black pants: f21 old, ($14)
old navy sandals: sale, ($11)

Oh, and I wanted to share this pic because Devin is wearing a very cute Barcelona futball outfit, thanks to his Aunt Vanessa! Isn't it adorable?!

Mondays outfit:

So there you have it!  Now I gotta get to those crunches and butt kicks.  See ya soon!

Disclaimer: I do not think I am "fat."  However, I realize I could stand to lose a couple pounds and definitely tone up.  Otherwise, I am happy with my curves.  I think curves on woman are beautiful, and I think life is too short not to eat yummy ass food.  I'll dedicate a whole post to my philosophy on woman and body image issues sometime soon.

Let's Talk Hemlines

If you haven't noticed already, 2011 fashion has presented us with longer hemlines when it comes to skirts and dresses.  We came into 2011 with maxi skirts and dresses paired with anything from boots to flip flops.  With fall 2011 fast approaching, I want to introduce you to "the midi."

The midi is a mid length skirt or dress- it's not too long (like a maxi), and certainly not short (like a mini).  It's just a classic, chic length and look.  It can be dressed up or down.  You can be short or tall, and still easily pull off the look with the right shoes (and length).  Here are some images I've found (and loved) from Pinterest to give you some inspiration and insight on "the midi":

If you're diggin the trend like I am, I would hit up your local thrift store, as I'm sure you will find a plethora of mid length skirts to enjoy this fall.

So, what do you think about it?  Do you like the classic look?

Just another Monday

Hey folks.  I hope your weekend went well!  Mine was not very different than any other weekend.  Lots of chillin/sleepin/bad-food-eatin, followed by Sunday cleanin.  Thats how I normally roll on the weekends.  Although, I better not forget to mention I played bingo for the first time Friday night.  Wow, I'm an old lady.

Anyhow, I have a couple pictures to share.

Devin and I at dinner Saturday night:

My vintage bracelet I've mentioned a few times:

That is all.  I hope your week goes by fast!

Happy Friday!

So, yesterday, I rushed home to hurry and try to take a picture so that I could change into comfy clothes (and I got home late mind you), and I moved all of this stuff on the deck to try to get a couple nice pics, I take A picture, go to my camera to adjust the height bc I didn't like the turn out of said picture because of the angle, and the camera dies.  I didn't know where the charger was, and I just wanted to change so badly.

Alas, I decided to deal with the one picture I had.  Unfortunately, I don't think the picture does the outfit a lot of justice.  When I paired this outfit together, I was really very proud of myself.  I would have never pictured the two colors together, but somehow I did, made it work, and was very proud.  So again, I know the outfit seems kinda 'meh,' but I was proud.  Here it is:

gray blazer- f21 ($18)
green gap tank- thrifted, ($2)
banana republic belt- thrifted, ($6)
ann taylor skirt- thrifted, ($5)
black nine west shoes- sale, ($40)

Do you have any plans this weekend? Oh, I gotta show you this vintage bracelet I got this week that I absolutely love.  I was wearing it with the outfit yesterday, and it looked very nice, I wish I was wearing it for the pics.

Anyway, have a great weekend ya'll!  Hopefully next week, I'll have more outfits to share.
