Rainy Day

It has rained non-stop for 24 hours.  I think they said 4-10''.  I don't know the totals as of now, but either way, whatevs.  I love rain.  But the rain is the reason why I wore heels today.  There were so many puddles by my house that flats or sandals wouldn't do me any good, so I threw together a very simple outfit and headed out.

{sephora lipstick: rouge cream line- "decollete 15" ($12)}
p.s. I didn't know where/how else to take any more creative pictures in my house, so the next one is a bit silly.

   {white tank: rue 21 ($4), round earrings: forever21 ($4), New York and Company cardigan: from Gabrielle Brothers ($2), Seven jeans: thrfited ($26), heels: TJ Maxx ($20)}

Check out one of my greatest vintage finds so far, this beautiful bracelet- the pic doesn't do it justice:
{green and yellow bracelet: Salvation Army ($3), elephant necklace: gift}

What is this last cheesy sepia one with the heart you ask?  Why, it's me and Michael's anniversary today! Haha, I am kinda a loser, I know.  Anyway, sometimes the simplest outfits can be the cutest.  None of what I am wearing is trendy, and this outfit could be worn for a casual work day, to the mall, or out for a date.  Perfect.

How could I dress this outfit up a bit?
I'm not going to tell you you can do it by shoes this time, like I normally do.  You could dress this up with a blazer.  Also, instead of a long necklace, a shorter, fuller necklace will not only dress it up, but add a romantic touch. They're usually called 'bib' necklaces (see pics below), and are really easy to find this fall season.

{each necklace I quickly found on Forever21.com, $6, $12, $14}

Until next time....

And don't forget! Today is the last night of the giveaway! Tomorrow morning I will post the lucky winner!

Show and Tell

I had a all-of-a-sudden horrible migraine at work today.  It was one of the worsts I've ever had, it was almost embarrassing how painful it was and how non-functional I was for like 30 minutes (I work at a pain doctor and luckily, they helped me out with some meds).  I had a cute outfit I wanted to share, but since I look like hell, I'll do a show and tell with a few things I have recently bought (because I'm psychotic and buy things when I don't have much money).

First, 3 vintage aprons I found on ebay for $10.  I have been wanting an apron for a while, and though they aren't the full size kind I wanted, I still thought they were totally cute.  Maybe I will just resell them sometime.

The last one is my least favorite, although it is reversible, the pocket is on the inside the way I am wearing it in the pic.  Also, yes, I am wearing shorts underneath.  Now that I think about it, what's the point of skirt aprons?

Close up.  The middle is my favorite, and the last is cute for the holidays.  I guess the first is cool for Thanksgiving.

Next, is the nail polish I have had my eyes on for a long time, since I saw it on Sweet Glow Beauty on the left.  It's called "Read My Palm" from Sephora (by OPI).  But then I saw the gold on in the store and loovveedd it too!  It's called "Rumba Romance."  The picture does NOT do either of them justice!  The gold is more of a sparkly goldish-bronze.

And the green is a gorgeous green, not too minty, not too green...I don't really know how to describe it, but it's pretty similar to the greenish turquoise stone on my ring.  I think it's a color that would look great on all skin tones.

Enjoy! Don't forget about the giveaway!  Tomorrow's the last day and you have nothing to lose.

Thirsty Thrifts

I went to a Goodwill yesterday, I always slacked on visiting it, but it was a gold mine!  I got so much cool stuff, including a vintage dress! Woohoo!  I never find that stuff at Salvation Army, where I go normally.  But, I did find this beauuitffuulll bracelet for $2 there.  I will have to show you guys the rest of my amazing finds soon, but for now, here's inspiration outfit with the shirt and jewelry all being thrifting finds!

{Banana Republic shirt: thrift ($4), black jeggings: Forever 21 ($15), Bakers shoes: ($40)}

{leopard belt: forever21 ($5), necklace: thrifted ($2)}

{bracelets: thrifted $2)

Sorry these pictures are a bit over exposed.  Also, I hate the star tattoo.  But anyway, pretty easy look to pull off.  I really liked the added leopard belt.  This outfit can be a casual everyday outfit and it's even great for work!

How could I make this outfit a bit more casual?
You could easily do so by loosing the heels and wearing oxfords instead, both black or brown would work.

If you haven't entered the giveaway yet, you should definitely do so!  Its simple, and you could win a free gift, so why not? Hollaa

{images via style.com}

Yowzers! After seeing so many pics, I realized it wouldn't be so hard to pull off.  The trick is, to be wearing something clean and simple.  Black or white would be perfect with a sleek bun.  But check out that girls burnt orange outfit?  I addooorree it!!!

Well my dears, I will try to make time to run to a sephora so I can try to find the perfect hot pink, I will let you know if I am happy with my find!! Hope you have a Happy Sunday and a great week!

Fall Into Style Part 2

Today is the last day of summer, so alas I bring you more Fall 2010 fashion.

1.  Sequins

Sequins are not just for New Years or parties anymore!  They are fun because they can spruce up a very simple outfit.  If you aren't big on accessories, then adding a sequined piece may be perfect for you!

Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere added stripes and a simple blazer for a casual chic look.  For an even more casual look, she paired a sequined skirt with a plain blouse and riding boots:

2.  Oxfords

 This outfit is a "shop by look" outfit from Forever 21.  Oxfords can be worn so many different ways! If you could pick between brown or black, I recommend brown (you can mix browns with a lot of colors).   These are only $20 from Target:

 3.  Capes

 Images from Sartorialist I am not too sure the whole cape trend is my thing, but it is in style this fall.  If it's not you're thing either, you can never go wrong with a classic camel colored trench:

This is a vintage London Fog coat that you can get at Archives on Etsy!  Click here to check out this coat as well as other cool vintage items at Archives.

4.  Knee High Socks

 Image from Stokholm Street Style.  This is another trend that might be too trendy for some.  You can find these types of socks anywhere for cheap.  If done correctly, I think it could be pretty cute.

5.  Leopard Print

 Leopard print can go a long way.  It's very classic from a faux baggy jacket, to a belt, to shoes.  Leopard is fun because it can be dressed up or down, depending on the item, and it is always very classic!  You no longer have to associate it with old ladies, or prostitutes for that matter!  Are you still stand offish to the idea?  Maybe try a leopard clutch or simple pair of  flats to start off with, and see how many things you can easily pair it with.  These are $20 from Target:

 I hope I have given you more ideas on some classic pieces that you will see a lot of this fall.  Always remember, "Fashions fade, style is eternal." - Yves Saint Laurent

Happy Sunday Picture Post

How was your weekend? I hope well!  I had a procedure on my back and have been super sleepy all weekend.  I did have a chance to work on some of the NY pictures I've been wanting to post.  So here they are:

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week

All the fashionista's texting

Love this place.  Wouldn't it be nice to study here? I loved how the ramp was made of grass

Isn't this hotel haunted?

My beautiful baby boy

View from the rooftop on a cloudy day

Another view

Fun edited rooftop picture.  (I'm so proud of myself!)

I was saying, "you gotta get my whole outfit!!" Behind me is the beautiful Lincoln Circle

We will become silhouettes...

Names on the steps and more silhouettes

Yummy nailpolish bottle

And lastly, those that I asked to model for my blog:

 Doesn't this gentleman look like he's been on Sartorialist before?  Very well put together.

This lovely model was also kind enough to let me take a picture for my blog.  She's from Australia and now lives in NY.  She was so sweet, and I loved her hair and outfit....the picture doesn't do her justice.

Almost Fall Night

I threw on this outfit before going to the cheesecake factory last night with Michael, Dev, and my-one-day-to-be-sister-in-law, and her husband.  I kept trying on different shoes with the outfit, but they didn't fit my mood (I tried gray ankle boots, red flats, yellow flats, and brown low boots):

{blue sweater: Forever 21 ($8), dress ($14), yellow scarf: ($5)}

So, that's a dress and not a skirt?
Yup, the same dress I wore in one of the first inspirations outfits I've done recently.  I bought the sweater on sale to wear with darker jeans, or leggings.  It was a a little chilly (not chilly enough for a scarf, but it brought the outfit together).  Try throwing on shirts over dresses, or try using a long skirt as a tube top dress with a belt!  These are just some ways to work with what you have in your wardrobe.

What other shoes work with this oufit?
Nude colored or gray colored booties and tights would have been cute, or, red, yellow, or brown flats or oxfords would have worked as well!  Also, brown gladiator sandals.

Are sandals are scarves an ok combo or a bit of an oxymoron?
They are an ok combo these days.  While your boyfriend might make fun of you, just don't listen.  Its even more cute if you are wearing a long sleeved dress, or skinny jeans and a loose flow-y blouse.

Example: AnnaLynn McCord is showing wearing a dress, sandals and a scarf, doesn't it look cute?

Casual Chic

My clothes are either wrinkled or all over the place and I kept trying on outfits before I was finally satisfied.  We don't have to dress up for work too much, but I felt like wearing these pants and I ended up loving this outfit!  It looks way better in person.  For some reason, the pictures don't do it justice.

{shirt: forever 21 ($12), parachute capris: forever21 ($14), sandals: charlotte russe ($20)}

{necklace: forever 21 ($6), bracelets: thrifted ($2)}

I am scared to try parachute pants, what do they go with?
Parachute pants are great with wedges, booties, and gladiator sandals.  They are great because they can be dressed up or down.  They don't have to be too wide.  You can still find some at places like Forever 21, Nordstroms, etc.

I don't like parachute pants, how can I pull off a similar look?
You can pull off a similar look with wide leg pants, a short, poofy skirt or shorts (see pic below), or even dress pants or capri's.  The key to any look is accessorizing without being too matchy matchy.

A reader recently asked me how to pull of leggings, so I will do a leggings inspiration outfit post soon! Do you have any fashion questions?  If so, feel free to email me!
