Revlon Mascara Review

Pretty much every lady out there knows there's no such thing as the "perfect mascara."  It's just impossible.  I had been on a mascara hunt/craze lately because I had noticed my lashes were really short at some parts- meaning, that they must have broken off!  This had never happened to me before, so I knew I needed to take better care of them.

I have long lashes, but the ends are blonde and they are so straight that when I am la natural, it looks like I have no eyelashes.  I luckily discovered the solution in 7th grade when I watched my aunt curl her lashes.

But anyway, about a year or two ago I found a mascara in my car from www.tubeyourlashes.com, it's simply called, Tube Your Lashes.  I thought I had heard of it before.  One day I decided to try it, and that was the closest I've EVER been to the perfect mascara.  It instantly lengthened my lashes.  They were sooo long!  They never clumped, and it's incredibly easy to wash off without giving you raccoon eyes.  That's the best part about "tubing" mascara.  I actually bought another one from their website, but Michael accidentally threw it away (and I hadn't even had a chance to use it!).  So because I didn't have the money, I just stuck with drugstore mascara.

I searched for tubing mascara and the only drug store brand I found was the L'Oreal Double Extend Mascara.  I never used the white part you are supposed to put on first.  Here are some Pros and Cons:

Pros:
- no raccoon eyes because of tubing
- lengthens and gives some volume
- lasts a long time

Cons:
- it can be clumpy if wait to long to reapply
- it stuck to my eyelash curler always
- my eyelashes started breaking off!

So my hunt began again.  I tried the Lash Blast and didn't like the clump.  I read some reviews for Revlon's Grow Luscious Lashes, and tried it.  I really am pleased with it so far.  While it is kind of hard to get off without makeup remover, when you touch your lashes they feel super soft.  The trick about this is people buy it because they think it's going make your lashes grow.  They see the percentage on the package and automatically think "drug store latisse, yes!"  But no folks, read the words after the percentage.  It says "94% of people saw instantly more and longer lashes."  Well DUH!  That's what mascara is for.  It never tricked me, I just bought it because people said it made their lashes soft.  Some claim that after 3 months of use they noticed more lashes, but I dunno bout all that.  Maybe only because the lashes were healthier?

Pros:
- lashes super soft
- not very clumpy
- makes lashes very long and voluminous
- didn't have to use eyelash curler (big plus!)

Cons:
- doesn't make lashes grow
- kind of hard to get off
- some people complain about the wand being too big (but it doesn't bother me)

So there ya have it!  I say definitely give it a shot or try some tubing mascara.  I swear by them.  I still want to try a tubing mascara from Sephora, as well as the Maybelleine Falsies.  Oh, and if you go to www.makeupalley.com, you can see reviews AND pictures of what people's lashes looked like after application.  I might post a picture eventually.

Holiday Gift Guide- For Her (Part 1)

The holidays are not just around the corner anymore, they are pretty much here.  The malls are filled with people, street lights are filled with decorations, and holiday music is playing everywhere you go.  Whether you are looking to get a present for your boss, neighbor, significant other, in-laws, or Mom, I will be posting some favorite things I have come across that I think would make great gifts.

Black Asos Watch

ASOS Silicon Strap Bracelet Watch With Metal Face ($44.82)
Any girl can use a watch.  One might be quick to think that we most often look to our cell phones to keep the time, but they're still wrist candy.  Watches are timeless pieces that can add to any outfit.

Mini Elephant Jewelry box

Z Gallerie Elephant Jewel Box ($18.79)
Only the Elephant is left.  This gift would be cute for a boss, a friend, in a stocking, etc.  It's really beautiful and different.  These are great to keep rings in, and small earrings as well.

Scarf and Glove Set

F21 Scarf and Glove Combo (more colors) ($7.50)
First of all, even if you get just a scarf, this mustard color is a must have for a scarf.  There is currently one at target that's a tiny bit lighter, and made of better material (where as this set is a perfectly cute warm accessory for outerwear).  Many girls I know have the scarf from Target that I speak of.  So this set is perfect peace it's only $7.50, it's warm, and it makes a cute and thoughtful small gift.  Good for a coworker.

Thermal Pajama Pants:

Close Fit Pajama Bottoms ($10.80)
These sexy pajama pants are cute and comfy!  Any pajama set makes a great gift.  You can find flannel sets as well.  Victoria's Secret has a great selection, though it is pricier than this F21 pajama bottom.

Elephant Necklace:

Sri Lanka fancy elephant necklace ($12)
This necklace has a surprisingly cheap price for as beautiful as it is.  I love elephants (as you may know by now), and I think this necklace can go with a lot as well as add a lot to an outfit.  It would be really cute with a gray v-neck tee.  Also, white shirt with jeggings, an army green blazer, and black or dark brown booties.

Rainboot Plant (for the office):

mini rainboot gardens ($14)  This is a really great gift for someone's office desk, or maybe a kids' bookshelf.  They have different colors, just click the link to go to the site.  This gift would be great for anyone.  It's great because you could really give it to a lot of different type of people, and it would most likely still be appreciated.  It's a unique gift/idea- those gifts are the best, in my opinion.    Cute Russian Doll Measuring Cups (for the home):
Russian Doll measuring cups ($16) These measuring cups are adorable for any girl with an apartment!  They are so chic and unique while being useful.  Another thoughtful gift idea that would probably please most gals.
Well folks, it is late for me tonight.  Devin's birthday is today!! My baby boy is going to be one year old, and I can't believe it!  Anyway, I will be doing more gift guides.  I hope you enjoyed!  Feel free to share your ideas as well.

Happy Monday

My Monday was happy.  How was yours?  I am watching Eat, Pray, Love and marveling at the Italian food and Julia Roberts of course.  I looovvee her and always have thought she was stunning.  She is.  Anyhow, I wanted to share some Thanksgiving pics as promised.  And although I have a busy week ahead of me with cleaning up and making crafts for Devs 1st birthday party Saturday, I am hoping to post outfit pics this week and/or gift guides.

So for Thanksgiving I cooked for 7 people.  And for 7 people, I cooked:

- homemade mashed potatoes
- homemade mac n cheese
- corn bread muffins
- biscuits
- cheesy potatoes
- carrots (with butter, a hint of brown sugar and thyme)
- cheesy broccoli
- candied yams
- green bean casserole

All of that in 4-5 hours!  It all turned out banging.  My dad and step mom brought the turkey and my mom and step dad brought the stuffing.  I enjoyed having them all at my home :)

Dev going to the grocery store with me in the morning to get my last needed items, yes, I was one of those people.

Finally wore my vintage apron!

I worked with what I had to set the table, including my great grandmothers china, and I loved the way it turned out!

You can't see the pretty blue paper I used for the tags, but it ended up matching with everything.  <3

My silly dad.

Dev waiting to eat!

Dev playing after turkey.

After we ate and chilled for a bit, we rushed to Michaels uncles for Thanksgiving #2.  After all that, I had the laziest weekend of my life, which included sleeping way too much.  I regret it!  But speaking of sleeping, I need to get to bed for work tomorrow.  Hollaaa

Happy Post Thanksgiving!

Do you weigh at least 5 more pounds?  I hope so.  I love Thanksgiving and post Thanksgiving as well.  I have always enjoyed the food (leftovers for days to come) and the general coziness of it.  I have a lot of things to be thankful for, and a lot of pictures to share from my Thanksgiving.  I cooked all side dishes for 7 people, everything but the turkey!  I'll be posting the Thanksgiving pics soon.  But for now, I wanted to quickly jot just some of the things I am thankful for:

- Having a home and being warm in my home
- my son
- my sons health, my family's health and my health
- That there was food on my table
- That my parents raised me the way they did to be appreciated and open minded, and thankful in general
- That I had/have an education
- That I found a hobby I love
- That Lil Wayne is out of jail

<3,
Mina

Threes

I wanted to get a lot accomplished today, but I woke up awfully late and didn't get anything done today.  Not a thing.  Tomorrow will be more productive, and hopefully I will make up for todays chillin'.  I haven't done outfit posts for a while, so I wanted to share some outfits that were worn over the weekend:

 #1- wide leg lovin'

I absolutely love wide legged pants, and always have.  There is such a classic, feminine feeling to them.

striped shirt: F21 ($15)
gray shirt: thrifted ($2)
black pants: thrifted ($5)
belt: thrifted ($2)

#2- Grey Poupon

My body looks weird in these pics, and the pics also don't do the outfit much justice, at all.  I really need to get a better camera asap!  I already picked which one I want ;p (hello Nikon ds3000).  Anyway, this outfit with a jacket and sunglasses is way cuter, trust.

grey cardigan: f21, old ($17?)
mustard dress: thrifted ($4)
belt: thrifted, but brand new dockers belt ($3)
brown tights: f21 ($6)
Steven (by Steve Madden) taupe booties: ross ($20)

#3: Remix

Kind a weird/funky outfit.  Probably not a lot of peoples cup of tea.  I honestly just threw something together.  My "shirt" was actually an awkward length h&m dress that I was going to alter.  I decided to try and obviously, the first thing I did was cut it.....too short! I was so pissed at myself.  And then I was going to hem the line to clean it up, and couldn't find the power source to the sewing machine.  So I just said f it, threw it on with some leggings and my cardigan and boots and headed out.  When I was about to leave the house, Michael said I looked pretty, but when he was more than half awake, he saw the outfit and said "what are you wearing?!"  lol

urban outfitters cardi: from Gabriel Brothers ($4)
h&m dress-made-shirt: thrifted ($6)
leggings: f21 ($8)
zigi soho "meena" boots: dsw, ($30)

Well, today wasn't much of a good picture day either.  But, it's late and in order to be productive, I need to wake up at a decent time, so let me get my butt to bed.  night!
