Good Hair Day

I had an ok weekend, until Sunday when I woke to my dad telling me news that my step moms mother had died.  She had recently been visiting for 6 months and was perfectly healthy.  I loved watching her play with Devin, she was just so sweet.  There's a lot more sadness and good memories, but I don't feel like sharing on the blog.  So instead, I wanted to share an outfit picture- one way to wear leggings:

This shirt is my absolute favorite shirt.  I splurged and got it from F21 this past weekend, because it goes with just about everything!  A gray skirt, leggings, many different color jeans, it could go with khakis, a variety of skirts in different colors and shapes, and you can mix it with golds or silvers.

You can better see the pattern by clicking on the picture, but also there is a pocket that you can't quite see in this picture.  The back of the shirt has a zipper that goes 1/3 down the shirt, and it's just so freaking comfortable and soft!

As for mentioning my good hair day, when I got out the shower my hair was super wavy, which is rare.  It was even nicer than when I tried out a wave perm.  So I decided to put product in it, and use the diffuser on the hair dryer, and the waves were just perfect....of course they turned to bigger waves, and ended up looking nothing like what it first was.  But, if you know me, you know I love big hair, and it still looked big without being too flat on top (which is usually my hair's biggest problem).

This pose is due to my step dad telling me over and over to kick my leg back, I didn't know what he meant so first I was playing around, but I guess it looks kinda cute.  Also, I wore these heels for an hour while running around, and I was not in pain!  They are super comfortable and cute.

blouse: F21 ($19.40)
leggings: F21 a while ago ($7)
shoes: Steven ($32) from Nordstrom Rack (originally $179 at some point, crazy!)
bracelets: some old F21, some thrifted

I already went through all the possibilities of what you can wear with this outfit, so I guess I don't need to go too much into how else you can wear a similar shirt.  But basically to dress it down you can wear:
- some ankle boots similar to riding boot style
- or if you feel like being bold, you could do chucks and a blazer (I would definitely recommend the blazer so you don't look too "punk rock")
- and of course, can you guess I was going to say oxfords?  Check out the ones I posted a while back from Target for $15, in the Fall into Style Part 2 post.

Are you sure you can mix the colors in the shirt with browns and golds as opposed to black and silvers?
Positive.  The warm tones of the pinks and the neutral grays are easy to pair with browns and golds.  You could wear it with light jeans or jeggings, and wear tall brown slouch boots or dark brown riding boots with gold accessories.  Now if you wanted to wear the black leggings, you could still incorporate brown shoes whether they are old school oxfords, to tall riding boots.  To make it come together even better, I would throw on a brown bomber jacket, or a jacket like this:
Or this blue one (if you're wearing jeans and a blue jacket of this color, then def only wear light jeans):

Or you could do a faux fur vest:

Moral of story:
Don't be scared to mix browns and blacks, or grays and browns. Just because you are wearing black, doesn't mean you can't incorporate your favorite brown shoes or gold bracelet.  Have fun with it!

Happy Sunday!

Tomorrow is Monday already. ALREADY! I hope your weekend went well!  Mine was alright.  Friday I went to Goodwill with my dad-  he was kind enough to get the clothes for me so Michael wouldn't yell at me, I got the PERFECT pencil skirt, another one, a couple pants, a couple shirts, a belt and a purse I love (haven't bought a purse in a year!).  Saturday, I had a nice date with Michael, we went to the Leesburg outlets in Virginia.  The way we went was a very scenic route, and the weather was perfect!  I didn't buy one thing.  Michael even said "So what?  You only by used clothes now?? You're not even looking at anything!" I thought it was kinda funny.  Anyway, wanted to share Friday and Saturdays outfits:

{Everything from Forever21: dress ($14), jacket (clearance $16?), sunglasses ($4)}

{belt: thrifted ($2)}

Saturdays outfit:
{jacket: rugged warehouse ($4), white tee- Forever 21 ($4), trousers: thrifted (5), belt: thrifted ($2), shoes: Nine West ($70)}

 {purse: thrifted ($5), bracelets: thrifted ($2), necklace: gift}

This outfit is really one of my favorites.  The only downside to these vintage high wasted trousers is that they don't do a lot for my butt.  Either way, I loved this outfit!  When we went to the outlets, I switched the shoes to the sandals seen here.  The outfit looked just as cute.

So, that's all folks! I hope you had a great weekend and are looking forward to a good week!

Fall Into Style Part 1

Since as far back as I can remember, I have loved everything about fall.  The scent, the foliage, the pumpkin spice everything, I would get excited for school, and as I got older, more and more excited and appreciative for fall fashion.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not completely trendy, I am more of a classic girl.  I may follow trends sometimes, but I keep true to myself and usually look for pieces that I will be able to wear for seasons to come.  Usually when something is totally "the thing" (hello boots wit da fuurrrrr), I might be repulsed by the idea (sometimes not though, seeing as I splurged during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale to get the sweater Uggs).  And believe you me, I totally have a lot to make up for, since I missed last years fashion while Dev was cooking in my belly and I had to wear the same 3 outfits over and over it felt like.

Anyway, a lot of this falls trends are very classical.  Here are just some of the things you will see in a lot of stores!

1.  Sheer/Lace Tops

This top is from Forever 21. (Note: Also, a lot of "capes" and ponchos are in this season, and if they are not your cup of tea like they are not mine, then a top like this would be prefect.)

Also from Forever 21.  This burgundy color as actually very in season this fall as well, especially in velvet fabric.  Think: nicely cut, burgundy velvet blazer, such a classic piece.

 Tops like these are always "in style."  Another classic piece you can wear to work, to the mall, or on a date.  Pair it with the leather looking leggings in the above pic, and some booties!

2.   Plaid shirts (again) with tees under them/Stripes/Abstract Patterns

You're gonna see a lot of plaid shirts again this fall.  With plaid shirts, you don't have to be matchy matchy and put a plain colored t-shirt under it, necessarily.  And don't be scared to mix patterns- florals and stripes can be mixed as long as it one of them is more subtle than the other, and you have the right colors for example.

Patterned tunics like this are cute too (Forever 21).  If it has buttons down the middle, you can pair it with a tshirt or with a thin belt.  In this case, I might wear dark jeggings, a thin brown belt, and brown ankle boots.

3.  Army Green and Military Jackets

 You will see a lot of army green colored outerwear this season.  A lot of them styled like the one above, while others may have big, gold buttons for a more military look (which is also the trend), or more of a vintage feel with patchwork on them.

 This military jacket is cute, but because it is paired with that blue color of the jeans, I think it makes it look barf.  Try to see past that and appreciate it's cuteness.

This one I found via google images.  I love that it's part blazer/part military jacket style.  And holy boobs on that model!

Alright folks, this is just a preview of what you will see a lot of this fall.  After Part 2, I might use these pictures to pair them with this or that to give you more ideas and inspiration.  Have a good one!
