Happy Friday!

So, yesterday, I rushed home to hurry and try to take a picture so that I could change into comfy clothes (and I got home late mind you), and I moved all of this stuff on the deck to try to get a couple nice pics, I take A picture, go to my camera to adjust the height bc I didn't like the turn out of said picture because of the angle, and the camera dies.  I didn't know where the charger was, and I just wanted to change so badly.

Alas, I decided to deal with the one picture I had.  Unfortunately, I don't think the picture does the outfit a lot of justice.  When I paired this outfit together, I was really very proud of myself.  I would have never pictured the two colors together, but somehow I did, made it work, and was very proud.  So again, I know the outfit seems kinda 'meh,' but I was proud.  Here it is:

gray blazer- f21 ($18)
green gap tank- thrifted, ($2)
banana republic belt- thrifted, ($6)
ann taylor skirt- thrifted, ($5)
black nine west shoes- sale, ($40)

Do you have any plans this weekend? Oh, I gotta show you this vintage bracelet I got this week that I absolutely love.  I was wearing it with the outfit yesterday, and it looked very nice, I wish I was wearing it for the pics.

Anyway, have a great weekend ya'll!  Hopefully next week, I'll have more outfits to share.

Gimme S'More

Jaunt from yesterday
Do I look too grandma-ish?
'like the colors, though

Do you like my haiku?  Heeyyy!! I just remembered, I one day posted all these haikus on my first real blog, my blog at Myspace.  I should go back and read those entries sometime...

On that note, here's yesterdays outfit:

excuse the wrinkles, it wasn't like that all day.  But I should have known when I had to iron the skirt twice(!!!) before even wearing it (in less that 24 hours).

I apologize for the subtle remote.  It works so great from afar!  (Really though, I think maybe just the remote batteries are low/dying)

Yeah, I know, I look thrilled.

And just for laughs:
dark coral cardi: thrifted, ($5)
white old navy tank: gab bros., ($2)
Anthro/Urban outfitter skirt: gab. bros ($8)
nine west sandals: macys, (gifted)

lololol at my still face and twirling bottom, another thrilled one.

Do you think I look too granny-ish, though?  Is the skirt a tad bit too long? I've been wanting a skirt with a longer length hem.  How do you think it looks?  I think the shoes helped modernize the outfit, right? I really love these shoes, I can mix them with almost anything! Oh, and my title is stemmed from the simple fact that I had a s'more right before writing this post.  Clearly, the "diet" is going well.

Day After Day

Day after day, I look at my daily page hits and feel bad when I know you have come to my page, only to be disappointed! Besides being busy, I haven't been "in love" with my outfits.

But this time has been a learning experience of sorts to me.  I've kinda realized over this time, that not everyday has to be something spectacular.  There are gonna be lots of boring, plain days, especially in the summer!

But at the end of the day, it still is all my style, and I like to share it.  So I will continue to do so.  In fact, I was going to today, but I forgot my hot pink heels at work- and trust me, they were vital for the outfit.  Anyway, I decided to draw you a little something something instead:

I just couldn't stand the idea of sabotaging the shoes....

green button up silk shirt from j. crew- goodwill, ($5)
white beater- old navy, ($6)
black harem pants: f21 ($21)
hot pink patent stilettos- aldos from salvation army ($7)

The black pants can also be seen here

That's all for tonight! I hope that I have somewhat made up for the lack of posts.  Boring or not, I'll see you soon.

p.s. I got my warby parkers finally!  (inally meaning I finally had the money, the shipping was just two days!)  Can't wait to show you!

Pure Morning

Hello!  Today was a weird day with many hurdles, but somehow, I kept myself in a good mood most of the day.  To top it all off, the sky was beautiful tonight- I could see many stars.  I know, I'm such a damn hippie.

I felt super feminine today, but I really liked my tights plus heels and the whole outfit.  I'm proud of myself for putting it together! I know, I'm such a damn weirdo.

I even think the pictures turned out alright.  And yes, those are navy tights.

And a different tone/view of colors

And lastly, this is pretty funny and pretty ugly.  I had to put Dev in the play-pin for a minute while I took my photos.  Devin usually loves watching me take the picture with the tripod and remote, but sometimes he whines.  He did in this case, so I was trying to make him smile.  Annnnd it turned out not so cute, but I said 'why don't I show them a blooper?'  So here it is nice and small:

j crew button up tunic- "thrifted" ($14)
brown leather belt- thrifted ($3)
navy tights-jessica simpson, gab. bros. ($4)
f21 (very surprised this was f21 from the material)- thrifted,  ($8)
guess heels- thrifted ($16)

I had a hard time putting together an outfit with this skirt.  It's hard to define it's colors.  It's kinda like a gray/blue/tan combo.  The material, comfortability (not a word?), and cut were all impressive- I was honestly surprised they were F21 when I went to look at the tag.  I'm very happy with it though, and I can't wait until summer when I can pair it with a bright color (melon?) and brown gladiators.....and sunglasses.  Hot!

Blank

Hola.  Today, I got to leave work while it was still light outside!  It was great.  And, if ya haven't heard, the groundhog didn't see his shadow in all that snow, which means spring is coming! ;)

And thus I dressed lightly, as it was supposed to be at least 49 degrees...BUT, it was windy and therefore, cold.

As I had been on the hunt for black wedged booties, I decided to go to a nearby mall during a lunch and check out h&m.  They had the ones I wanted, but not in my size (neither did the one closer to my house).  However, I walked into Lord and Taylor and they were having a GREAT sale on some shoes!  I found the wedged booties like I wanted, and then found $25 sperrys.  I've always loved the laid-back-yet-classic look and feel to them.  The Nine West booties and Sperry boat shoes all together were $60! Not bad.

They turned out to be SUPER comfortable.  I have been wearing them since I got off of work.

They ended up being $24 bucks!

I did one of those blogger "hey look I'm jumping in the air for no reason" shots.  I thought I looked like a freak so I decided to draw my happy expression for you instead.

taupe jacket: gift
shirt: f21, ($14)
silence and noise harem pants: gabriel bros, ($3- NO LIE!)
steven heels: macys, ($40)
sperry boat shoes: lord and taylor, ($24)

These pants, they do not wrinkle, and lint or cat hair doesn't stick to them.  LOVE!

p.s. I'm eating nutella on wheat bread with warm milk. goodnight

Rainy Night

It was supposed to sleet tonight, a lot, and it's only raining.  But if you know me, you know that I love the rain.  I also cut my bangs tonight.  I had grown them out for sooooo long!  To my chin!  I kept contemplating cutting them, and I think I even did a month and a half ago (or so), but it wasn't very noticeable- prob more annoying than anything.  And alas, it quickly grew out and I took the plunge tonight.  But, I love it!  I guess you will see that tomorrow.

For tonight, I have the days outfit.  I vow to truly be better about just snapping a couple pics, even if they are boring.  I take the time to enjoy my outfits daily, so I might as well share them, right?  But then there's a little part of me that thinks it's kinda silly...when I really think about it. But anyway, I enjoy it for now.

Worthington cardi- thrifted ($4)
f21 tee- ($14)
army green cargo straight legs- f21 ($18)
steve madden boots- old ($40?)
cashmere mini inifinity scarf- gift

I was too effin lazy (TFL- don't forget it), to edit my rudolph-red-nose syndrome.  I guess not everyday my outfits, nor my pictures are gonna be extravagant, but they could be a lot worse I think.  Plus, it will be better/easier once it starts staying light outside later.  I get home when it's dark- I never get home before 6, and rarely before 6:30 at that.

But back to the above outfit...Those pants are quite stretchy, but they share the problem I often run into with pants.  I sit weirdly all day, many times with my one leg bent under the other- it's so bad for my knees, and it also stretches out the knee area in most the pants I wear.  I think that's what all those wrinkles by the top of the boots are :/ I gotta stop doing that.  But anyway, it's past my bedtime!  I've been doing great at going to bed earlier, and waking up super early!  I am lovin just watching some news in the morning, maybe catching up on some blogs, and then warming up the car while quickly getting dressed.  So, goodnight!

p.s. if you haven't officially followed my blog by hitting "follow" on the right, please do so! I'd really appreciate it :)

Outfit Spicing

Happy Wednesday!  Today, (and hopefully every Wednesday coming up), I am going to answer a reader's question in regards to an outfit, fashion in general, how to's, what accessories to pair with what, etc.  Please feel free to email me (email to the right) with any questions!

And now I introduce the beautiful woman behind this idea, Angela.

Angela wrote me last week stating that she thought of me when she put on this outfit because she thought it was just so simple and boring, and she wished I was there to help.  As  I mentioned yesterday, Angela is a new mom.  When you're a new mom, you're in this weird spot with clothing.  You are losing your weight, but not quite back to what you were.  You definitely miss getting dressed up, since you have been wearing the same 5 pieces of maternity clothes for 9 months, but you still feel like nothing fits- and to be honest, getting dressed can be very frustrating!  But you gotta remember, behind every cute outfit, there is a simple outfit that had some potential.  Every simple outfit can be done up in so many different ways!   Because these look like they are boot cut pants, I would wear tall boots or either pointy flats or round flats, but not in between.  In order to spice up this outfit, I would have added brown boots, a maroon or yellow scarf, and either a vest or cardigan with a blazer on top.

Are you thinking, 'hold up?! did she say brown boots with those black pants?'  And the answer is yes, I did, but black boots work too.  See how Jentine from My Edit pulled it off:

Note: you don't always have to be matchy matchy with colors!
Also note: Play around with your blazers and cardigan, layer up the colors you woudln't have thought of before, add a scarf or belt.  See what  you can pull!
Tip: Write down in a notebook cute outfits that you have put together for future inspiration and ideas of how to mix it up!

Here are some more ideas:

Mix match all those outfits, compare them with what you have.  See that black and brown make a great couple (especially with gray)!  Think about your belts, scarves, hats (beanies), and coats.  I feel like I haven't been much of a help, but I hope I have!  Feel free to give me feedback, and pleeasse, please, feel free to ask me your own questions and send your own pics!  Goodnight ya'll!  And thanks again Angela :)

New Years Part 2

Oh yeah! I wanted to share this dress I got from H&M.  I wore this on the eve of new years eve.  Maxi dresses are very "in" right now, and I always have loved them, but also had a hard time imagining what I would pair it with especially in this cold winter weather.  But, I threw on my handy dandy rough boots (that I pair with girly items for a nice balance).  p.s. I definitely hate heels with a maxi dress, maybe I'm the only one but I couldn't do it.  Oh, and to add a little spice (and shape), I added a leopard print sash and tied it like a obi belt.  I was hesitant it would look like a bit much, but it was cute and definitely added a little shazam to the outfit.

leopard dress: h&m ($20- it was on sale from $40)
leopard sash/scarf: thrifted, ($5)
black zip up: f21 ($4)
earrings: gifted
zigi soho meena boots: dsw, ($20)

Back to New Years Eve

muuuscclleee maaaannnnn.  I always hated my arms growing up because they were always cut.  I swear I'm not even flexing.  BUT, in my 20s so far, they have been pretty...um, not cut.  Until now!  Thanks to Devs heavy ass.

I loved this outfit!  It was so perfect for new years.  How lucky was I that I found that top at the thrift store that day??  The coloring is perfect.  And my pants??  They are the most perfect material.  They are super soft, and best of all, they don't wrinkle and cat hair doesn't stick to it! w00t w00t!

blazer: h&m ($15)
sequin tank: thrifted, ($5)
silky urban outfitters pants: gabriel brothers ($3- no lie!)
 boots: thrifted, ($10)

Are you starting to wonder where I shop with all these amazing "thrifted" items? I'm so selfish, I almost don't want to tell....*le sigh* I get most of them from Goodwill, Salvation Army, and now Mustard Seed.  Mustard Seed is a shop in Bethesda, right across my job (so so so bad for my pockets!).  They are picky with the clothes they buy from people, but I love going there.  I've come to the realization that  love shopping way more when I'm looking at used clothes.  It's so much more fun for some reason.  I guess it's the unexpected finds.  I feel like I love the pieces a lot more when I buy them used.  They're always more interesting, I don't know.

Anyway, I wanted to also share my make-up, which definitely completed my look.  I was super careful about putting on the makeup.  Of course, Urban Decay's primer potion was a must for the eyeshadow.  I basically did a gold/browns smokey eye. I feel that I'm usually not successful when I do this, but for whatever reason, I do think it turned out nice this time.  I didn't really think at the time of my pics to take a picture with my eyes shut for you to see the eyelids, but these are all I've got:

Oh, and the lipstick was new as well, but it is the perfect nude pink.  Nudes are always a win win with any smokey eye look.  This lipstick is Angel from Mac.

So that's that! I hope you enjoyed the looks and got some inspiration to find great items for cheap.
